Year One students had an opportunity to take a step into the past on their recent excursion to the Pine Rivers Heritage Museum. After entering a 1950s classroom, they sat at long wooden desks, wrote on slates and helped to make worksheets using a hectograph (a process involving carbon paper and gelatin). Playing games from the past that incorporated jumping, rhymes and hula hoops provided much enjoyment. Many conversations and comparisons were made when they experienced 1950s life at dinner time, free from modern technology… watching a black and white TV show and making butter.
