This week the Year 10’s begin a five week Career Education program, guided by the Student Services Team. Throughout the ten sessions students will have the opportunity to explore their interests and passions, consider how these may fit to a vocation, evaluate their values and 21 st century skills, reflect on the place of career within a holistic view of life, contemplate choosing subjects for the Senior phase of learning, and research options post school to realise their hopes and plans. They will also hear from inspirational NCC alumni who are pursuing their dreams beyond school.
The students will complete a number of activities and documents including a SET plan (Senior Education and Training Plan), a government mandated plan which will be shared with parents and caregivers and retained as a record of student intentions. This program will be followed in Semester 2 by a QTAC session for parents and students regarding the ATAR system, and a subject selection evening.
