From the 23rd to the 25th of November, the Year 10 students embarked on a journey to discover what life is really like in their chosen occupation. From kindergarten teachers to cafe workers, dentists to gym instructors, we saw a wide variety of professions amongst the students.
Throughout this time, the Year 10’s certainly were thrown into the deep end, having to quickly adapt around their new work schedule. The students had to familiarize themselves with the high expectations that a full-time job comes with as well as conform to new situations and environments. However, they took these changes in their stride and managed to represent the College well throughout their placement.
We hope that throughout this time, the students will be able to look back on the experience and gain insight into possible career options. Thank you to all the teachers and staff who took their time to visit each of the students at their respective workplaces. Your encouragement and enthusiasm towards the Year 10’s were greatly appreciated.
Working in the Marketing & Communications department at Northside has made me realise their importance to the College.
- Jordan M, Year 10 work experience student
Every year Northside students in Year 10 engage in work experience as part of their career education program. This year, due to COVID, there has been a reduction in the number of businesses able to accept a work experience student and we need your help. If your workplace has the capacity to host a Year 10 student for unpaid work experience for 3 days (23-25 November) we would love to hear from you. Please contact Katie Webb at Katie.webb@northside.qld.edu.au if you’d like to help or if you would like details about the program.
