In design lessons, Prep students learn about materials and how they can be suited to making a structure. Communication skills such as “listening to understand” each other’s ideas and taking turns are practiced in themed Design challenges.
The Design process includes testing ideas and resolving problems using resilience and patience. This week, students considered how paper can be strengthened and manipulated. Their challenge was to make a tree from recycled paper that could support four pompom baby birds. Students explored ideas about balance, the properties of paper, and having a supportive base to help the tree stay upright. Well done Prep students!
