Northside students and parents opened their hearts and homes for short-term study groups from Japan and Korea. After an Aussie Bush Dance that allowed our host families and visitors to get to know each other better, our visitors had the chance to experience the life of a student in Australia as well as see Australian attractions.
Our Japanese friends from Edogawa Gakuen visited for two weeks, while the Korean group that represented students from multiple schools in Korea stayed on for three weeks. We also hosted 3 International students in Junior School in Prep and Year 3.
The students were challenged to speak English for the majority of their visit. The Northside community need to be congratulated for their warmth and support shown to these students leading to a very memorable experience. Whether a student buddy, a Host family, or staff of the school, once again the Northside team have shown how, when we all work together, God is glorified.
There were many highlights of the tour; including visiting the Kindy and Junior school classrooms, Seaworld, Australia Zoo, shopping and tasting Australian food. However, the relationships built between people were the greatest outcome. We are thankful for the memories made with our new friends!
A heart-felt thank you to all the families who signed up to host our guests!
