Newsletter July 2023– The NCC Mission

As with every part of life, the beginning of Northside seems as if it were just yesterday but, at the same time, like a very long time ago. So much growth and change has occurred; student numbers have continually increased, and more buildings have been constructed.

The campus changes, but the vision and mission remain true.

The reason for Northside Christian College’s existence has not changed. The children of Christian parents can be educated by Christian teachers who share the parents’ belief that God is central to everything. He is not just for Sundays in church. This foundation is essential and can be maintained only with the prayerful commitment of the church, the staff, the parents and the students “dwelling together in unity”.

The mission of the College is to ‘make disciples of Jesus Christ; educated and equipped for any future’.

On Wednesday, June 7, about a hundred secondary students attended the Faith+ Conference in the church auditorium and learnt more about what it means to be a disciple of Christ and how they can put their faith into action. It was a really good day with different speakers, videos, practical workshops and worship.

Earlier in the year, the community came together in a united effort to stage the highly successful musical, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”. Sets, costumes, rehearsal, singing, dancing, music, ticketing and marketing involved many people over a lengthy period of time. In true Northside style, the cooperation made sure the show was an outstanding success.

The community spirit was showcased again on the oval for the very successful Junior School breakfast organised by the Year 12 students.

Sports coaching, instrumental music tuition, choir practices, local missions and much more all join with classroom teaching to ensure students have every opportunity to develop different skills.

The College values of Faith, Learning, Excellence, Community and Character underpin the many, varied parts of the students’ experiences as they move from Prep to Graduation.  With the support of parents, staff, alumni and each other, the journey can be successful.
