National Skills Week (24-30 August 2020) is held annually and seeks to raise awareness of the diverse range of careers which can be kick-started through vocational education and training, as well as jobs in demand, skills gaps over the next five years, and information and resources on the training required to obtain them.
This year at Northside, Skills Week will be celebrated across the Secondary school in the Arts and Technologies and Design departments.
The Manufacturing and Certificate II in Engineering students will test their skills in a ‘Pit Stop Challenge’ by competing in teams to perform a timed, live ‘Pit Stop’ in our automotive servicing facility.
Our Year 10 Certificate II in Hospitality classes will compete in a ‘Nailed It!’ - style (Netflix series) cupcake decorating competition.
The Year 11 and 12 Certificate III Early Childhood Education and Care students will run a mini under-eights day for the Next Steps Kindy with a range of exciting and fun activities for our littlest Northsiders.
The Certificate I and III in Visual Arts students have been working hard to prepare a gallery of work for display during skills week involving a professionally-judged art competition. One of the works on display will be Amy Brunton’s oil on board (pictured) that responds to the question ‘what is the heart of Northside Christian College?’
Northside is proud to celebrate the God-given skills which are being honed and developed in our Vocational Education programs.
