The annual Battle of the Minds (BOM) on the 25th of April exploded onto the stage as the group of year 7 contestants made their grand entrance. Our secondary students' mental powers and enthusiasm ignited the otherwise dimly lit Auditorium in a blaze of colour. The House Captains led the cheering squad as our representative students tackled some tough questions in the ultimate brain competition across all year levels. The competition was fierce, with Booth House coming out on top after rounds of General Knowledge, Science, English, Math and Social Science questions.
Mr Drew and his band of students moved the entire audience with their stirring rendition of "My Heart Will Go On" during the Guess The Song segment. The Office theme song was also a popular hit which garnered echoes from the audience as the human waves bounced around the Auditorium. A memorable afternoon ended as the cross-country winners from earlier in the day was announced – Wesley house, beating second-placed Graham by eighty points.
Thank you to the Year 12 Communications Team for their outstanding coordination of the entire event. Led by Luke Waghorn, they competently provided all special effects and technical support. The heightened energy was supercharged by our MCs, Joel MacNaught and Ariana Niven. A special thanks to Kai Kurosawa, whose event management system was successfully road-tested. The Cultural Team, led by Isabella Huynh, did a spectacular job with the decorations. We are grateful for the generous support of staff and students who made BOM 2022 a successful afternoon at Northside.
